Frequently asked questions
1) Can my child play PONY, Little League, or another rec baseball program and Irvine Diamondbacks baseball?
Yes - we encourage our players to enjoy their rec ball experience. We typically schedule our practices on Fridays, and our games on Sundays to avoid any conflicts with PONY or Little League.
2) Can my child play other sports and Irvine Diamondbacks baseball?
Yes - we have had many players who play multiple rec/club sports. Players, especially between 9 - 12 years of age, try many sports throughout the year, to see which ones they excel at and prefer - and just to have fun!. When players reach 13 - 14 years of age, they seem to focus in on the 1 or 2 sports that they want to play in High School.
3) Is the Irvine Diamondbacks program a full year commitment?
No - we start our Spring Training in early/mid February, and play a spring league schedule February through May. The Summer months are used for select tournament play. We resume our Fall schedule in September, and complete Fall league play by the end of November. We believe in taking breaks between seasons - to rest the arms, keep the passion for the sport strong, and to avoid burning out any players.
4) Do you have to be from Irvine to play on the Irvine Diamondbacks?
No - our club's mission is to develop Irvine kids to play High School Baseball! However, we've made some room to roster talented players outside of Irvine, who desire the coaching and training available from our program.
5) What leagues do you play/participate in?
Irvine Diamondbacks teams play in
tournaments all around the country - we've even sent teams representing the USA
to international tournaments in Mexico!
Our Irvine Diamondbacks 9U - 14U teams typically play in the CCYB league.
Our 15U - 16U teams play in a Mickey Mantle league, and our 18U team plays in a Connie Mack league.
All of our teams compete in
local/regional/state tournaments sanctioned by USSSA, Triple Crown Sports, AAU, Super Series, and many more.
Our 12U team competes each year in Cooperstown, NY
- usually in late July/early August.
In addition, each year we have high school players selected to
participate in Showcase games for college recruiters.
