    Attention 2B!

Mariners 2B Robinson Cano demonstrates turning double plays.

I ran across this video on ESPN and thought I'd share it. Aaron Boone talks with Robinson Cano about turning double plays at the 4 position. I think Robbie says a lot of interesting/important things, so pay attention:

What did you hear that was important? Here's what I heard:

    1. "I don't want to be late to the bag, I always want to get there early"
    2. "Get my left foot on the bag early"
    3. "I always have in my mind it's going to be a bad throw"

I think these ideas apply to just about every play and I especially like the last one. Anticipating is a huge part of the game. If you anticipate that things will not be perfect, you can make the adjustment easier.

I also like how he talked about why he doesn't set up behind the bag like some other second basemen do. He simplifies the job by being on the bag leaving the catch as the only thing he has to worry about.
